The relationship measurement matrix (RMM), aligned to the Supply Chain Relationships code of practice, provides the SC21-preferred mechanism to evaluate the relationship between a “key customer” and a “supplier”, involving multiple stakeholders in both organisations who interact on a regular basis.
The RMM focuses on four elements of the relationship, each with five key attributes and is used to capture the independent views of all participants (customer and supplier).
TEC are one of only two organizations approved by the SC21 community to facilitate the relationship measurement review process using the relationship measurement matrix (RMM) that is one of the key streams of SC21. The RMM (aligned to the Supply Chain Relationships code of practice) provides a mechanism to evaluate the relationship between a “key customer” and a “supplier”, involving multiple stakeholders in both organisations who interact on a regular basis.

An initial briefing session is held and then the RMM questionnaire is completed by stakeholders in both organisations. The RMM spreadsheets are then e-mailed to TEC for review and analysis to provide a baseline from which a workshop which (i) interprets any gaps in respective perception and (ii) agrees the consensus position. Comments and supporting evidence are extracted from stakeholder inputs and used to stimulate debate during the workshop with the objective of recognising the current status (i.e. issues, opportunities and barriers) and agreeing where improvement is required.
The outputs of the workshop then provide inputs for the supplier CSIP and the joint relationship management plan (RMP) which is agreed and reviewed on a regular basis.
