What are NVQs?
NVQs enable you to demonstrate an individual's performance at work with a nationally recognised qualification. Applicable to all ages — no previous qualifications are necessary. As the skills are assessed through work-based evidence, there are no 'end of unit/project' tests or exams. Certification is based purely on evidence of the skills being used in the employee’s own work place.
An NVQ comprises of several learning units which can be tailored to reflect the job that an employee is carrying out and the skills they require. Each NVQ is made up of a number of (mandatory and optional) national occupational standards relative to the individual’s job role and responsibilities.
